Week 10 of League 27 – Winter 2022:

Table 1: Walter Wnuk & Todd Cook  vs & Linda Kujat & John Killett:  This match was going to be a tough match for John and Linda as they were pitted against two very accomplished pool players in week 10. Todd and Walter got off to a very good start, notching the first two games in the 8 Ball Set. With some very nice shot making and good safety play, they were able to hold off their competition to start the set. Linda and John found an opening left by the opponents and made the eight ball to get on the score sheet in game 3. Even by slowing down the momentum of the opponents with the win in game 3, Todd and Walter charged right back. They played some very nice pool and took the next three games to jump into a 5-1 lead in the match. The 9 Ball Set gives everyone a chance to win, as this is our, so to speak, slop game. Anything goes, as long as the correct ball is struck. Walter and Todd again got a jump in the set as they nailed game 1 with some nice shooting. Walter kept the pressure on as he nailed a 6-9 combo after a nice run to set up the combination win. Todd and Walter continued to shoot well and just like that, they had a 3 game head start in the set. After the opponents broke in game 4, John got his chance to get his team on the score sheet, with a great 1-9 combination to end the game quickly. Walter and Todd continued to punish the opponents when they left shots. After notching game 5, Walter nailed a 3-9 combo to finish off the set, building up a huge lead going into the final set. Todd and Walter again got off to a great start with some nice runs combined with tough leaves and the opponents saw them jump out to a 2 game lead in the 10 Ball Set. Linda and John put together a very nice win in game 3, as they kept the opponents from getting some easy starts. Walter and Todd took games 4 and 5 as they continued to shoot well and keep the opponents from getting any momentum. John and Linda finished off the final game with nice shooting by both players. It was a very admirable try by Linda and John. Very nice shooting by Todd and Walter.

Table 2: Jacob Ressler & Keith Nickel vs George Sharbo & Ray Ressler:

This match had the possibilities of being much closer than it turned out. Ray and George got in the first win in the 8 Ball Set with some nice shooting by both players. Keith put together a nice run and Jacob finished of the second game to even up the set at 1 game each. With George and Ray shooting well, they were able to contain the opponents and put together some nice shot making to put games 3, 4 and 5 on the score sheet. Jacob and Keith shot well taking advantage of some missed opportunities by the opponents and nailed down the win in game 6. George and Ray headed into the 9 Ball Set with a 4-2 lead in the match. It was George running 5 and out to take the first game in the set. Keith and Jacob put together some nice shot making and great safeties to hold off the opponents and take game 2. Ray and George continued to shoot well and were able to nailed down games 3 and 4. George broke in game 5 and put in the 9 ball on the break for the win. George continued to shoot well and made a 4-8-9 combination to take game 6 for the team. This gave Ray and George a 9-3 lead in the match. It was Ray getting things started for the team as he made several balls before getting a combination shot opportunity. He made good on the shot using the 6 ball and he and George took game one to start the 10 Ball Set. Just like the previous two sets, Jacob and Keith nailed the win in game 2. George continued to get chances and got a good look at the 4-10 combo after getting a ball in hand when the opponents scratched in game 3. He put it in for the second win in the set for his team. Jacob and Keith kept their opponents from getting easy starts and put together two good runs by each other to take game 4 and even up the set. That would be all that Ray and George would give up as they closed out the set with back-to-back wins in games 5 & 6. It was a good try by Keith and Jacob and very nice shooting by George and Ray.

George Sharbo & Ray Ressler (13)  – Jacob Ressler & Keith Nickel (5).

Table 3: Tony Parpart and Matt Ressler vs Janet Nihls & Alvin Kelley: It was the Tony and Matt show for most of the match as they kept Alvin and Janet from getting into any kind of groove. The 8 Ball Set got started with Matt and Tony taking advantage of missed shots by their opponents to take game one. Janet played some very nice safeties in game 2 that gave Kelley a chance to get the team on the score sheet with some nice shot making and position play. With some good shooting they took the game. Too many missed shots by Kelley and Janet continued to keep Tony and Matt in a nice shooting rhythm. They capitalized with wins in games 3, 4 and 5 assuring them of the set win. Janet and Kelley finished off the final game of the set with a win, and trailed in the match 4-2. Tony and Matt continued to shoot well, and Janet and Kelley left too many opportunities for their opponents to keep the momentum on their side. Matt and Tony stormed through the first 3 games of the 9 Ball Set with continued nice shooting and some very outstanding safety play. Game four saw Matt pocket the 9 ball on the break and then put together a 5-8-9 combo to win game 5. Tony and Matt nailed the final game of the set to sweep the opponents with a 6-0 set win. This put them up 8 points going into the final set. Matt and Tony continued to shoot well and took advantage of every opportunity they were given. They took the first three games of the 10 Ball Set, that gave them 9 straight wins. When given the opportunity to shoot, Kelley and Janet put together some nice shot making to post a win in game 4 and stop the opponents run of games. The teams split the final two games to end the set and the match. It was a very good effort by Kelley and Janet against two good shooters. Nice shooting by Matt and Tony.

Tony Parpart & Matt Ressler  (14) – Janet Nihls & Alvin Kelley (4).

Table 4: Eddie McKinley & Tracey Krol vs Scott Kroll & Kathy Wnuk: Unfortunately, Scott couldn’t make it to play due to a work situation, and Kathy had to play alone. It was a see saw battle in the 8 Ball Set, as Eddie and Tracey went back and forth in the set against Kathy. Kathy opened the set with the first win and then Eddie and Tracey put together some nice shot making to take game 2. Kathy got some good chances in game 3 and with some nice shooting, nailed down the win. Tracey and Eddie continued to get chances left by Kathy and made good with back-to-back wins in games 4 & 5. This set would end in a tie as Kathy posted the win in game 6. Tracey and Eddie got a jump on Kathy to start the 9 Ball Set as they nailed the opening two games in the set. Good shooting and safeties helped them get a 2 game lead in the set. Kathy made a 4 ball run to get out in game 3 and stop the opponents two-game run. Game four went to Eddie and Tracey and Kathy finished game 5 to still trail by a game in the set. I see that game 6 was won by a 3-9 combo, but it wasn’t noted who made the combo shot win. This ended the set with Tracey and Eddie winning 4-2. Kathy now trailed by 2 game in the match at this point. Eddie and Tracey nailed the opening game to start the 10 Ball Set. Kathy rebounded and posted the win in game 2 to keep things even in the set. Another combination win was posted by Tracey and Eddie but not listed on who made the 2-10 to take game 3. Game four went to Kathy with some nice shooting and tough leaves for the opponents to get going. Eddie and Tracey finished up the set with another back-to-back wins to take games 5 and 6. It was a nice try by Kathy who had to play without a partner. Good shooting by Tracey and Eddie as they take the final set 4-2.
