Week 2 of League 27 – Winter 2022:

WEEK 3 TABLE SCHEDULE FOLLOWS THIS NEWSLETTER

Walter Wnuk & Ray Ressler vs Todd Cook & Eddie McKinley (Make up match Week 1)

The Make Up Match  from week 1 got started in week 2 with four good shooters duking it out on the table . Walter and Ray are playing against Todd & Eddie. The teams were able to finish the 8 Ball Set before the regularly schedule league play began. After Walter broke in game 1, Todd almost went the distance, posting a 7 ball run, but didn’t help their team as he failed to finish. Ray followed and proceeded to run out the game to give his team the first win in the set. The the next game went back and forth, with Walter and Ray taking the 2nd game. Walter broke in game 3 and went the distance with a very impressive break and run to put their team up 3 games to none for Todd and Eddie.  After a few misses by both teams, Eddie stepped up to the table, needing to get he and Todd on the score sheet. He did just that with a 5 ball run to get out. Eddie made his run look easy as he  not only made some nice shots but did it with pinpoint position play. The first set ended with Walter and Ray stringing together some nice shots to finish off the final two games of the set. Walter and Ray (5) – Todd & Eddie (1). They will continue their match next week.

 

  Table 1:  Matt Ressler & Janet Nihls vs Alvin Kelley & Todd Cook:             Matt & Janet had their hands full against two very accomplished players. Alvin & Todd struck first in the 8 Ball Set. Todd and Alvin picked apart the rack with some very nice shot making and phenomenal position play to take game 1. Matt and Janet fought back with not only good shooting, but some pivotal hooks to keep Alvin & Todd a bit out of rhythm and evened up the set. The teams split the next two game and it remained even at 2 games each after 4 games. A few openings helped Todd and Alvin capitalize on the next two games to close out the set and take a 4 games to 2 lead in the match. Janet & Matt stopped the 2 game run to open up the 9 Ball Set notching the win in the first game of the set. Game two came and went pretty quickly after a few back and forth misses by both teams, saw Alvin nail a 3-9 combination to end the game early. Todd and Alvin nailed game three with nice shooting to take a 2-1 set lead. Matt got a bit of revenge, as he too shortened up game 4 with his own 3-9 combo and squared up the set for he and Janet. The teams split the final two game as this set was even with both teams winning 3 games. Matt and Janet trailed by two games in the match heading into the 10 Ball Set. Alvin & Todd continued to play well and jumped out first in the set with a win in game 1. It was Alvin again finding a combination shot in game 2. He nailed a 2-10 to put he and Todd up 2 games in the set. They weren’t quite finished as Todd also stepped up and finished off game 3 with a some masterful shooting. Alvin broke in game 4 and didn’t stop until he had ran off all 10 balls for a very nice break and run out. This put his team up by four game in the final set, assuring them of the match win. Game five went back and forth until Janet got her opportunity to make a combination shot at the 10 ball. She used the 7 ball to drain the 1o ball dead center into the pocket. The momentum stayed with Matt and Janet as they methodically made shot after shot,  putting the 10 ball into the pocket to finish off the set. It was a very good match with some excellent shooting by all the players. 

Alvin Kelley & Todd Cook (11) – Matt Ressler & Janet Nihls (7).

 

 Table 2:  Karen Rutland & Tony Parpart vs George Sharbo & Eddie McKinley:  Karen was unable to play in week 2 and Tony had to play solo, and had his hands full against two good players. Tony got on the score sheet first with Eddie potting the 8 ball out of turn to open up the 8 Ball Set. George and Eddie then put together some nice runs and finished off games 2 and 3 to take a game lead in the set. Tony fought back and strung together some nice shots to take the fourth game in the set. Eddie and George took game number 5, but it was George’s turn to help out Tony. He made the 8 out of turn in the final game of the set, that ended up in a 3 to 3 tie. George & Eddie started out the 9 Ball Set with some nice shooting to take game 1. Tony notched the win in game two with some nifty shooting, but then it was all Eddie and George  for the next three game. They took advantage of the missed opportunities by Tony and strung together wins in games 3, 4 & 5. Tony was able to salvage the final win, and now trailed in the match, 7-5. George and Eddie started the 10 Ball Set with a game one win, with both players contributing to take the first game. The momentum continued for Eddie and George as George nailed a 10 ball on the break and it was downhill for Tony for the rest of the set. Each time Tony missed it gave George and Eddie open shots to get started, and they pounded out the next four games. The first three games assured them of the match win. It was a very good try by Tony and some fine shooting by Eddie and George.

Eddie McKinley & George Sharbo (13) – Karen Rutland & Tony Parpart (5)

Table 3:  John Killett & Ray Ressler vs Tracey Krol & Keith Nickel: This match got off to a great start for John & Ray as they were given a multitude of opportunities to win games by Tracey & Keith. Ray and John opened with nice shooting along with some help from their opponents. They nailed the game ball in 5 of the first 6 games. Keith and Tracey were able to salvage one win in the 8 Ball Set.  Tracey & Keith posted the first game win in the 9 Ball Set with some very nice shooting, along with a couple of hooks that kept John and Ray a little off balance. John made several nice shots to finished off the 2nd game to even up the match. John got a great chance to end the game early in game 3 as he made a nice 2-9 combination to quickly end game three. Ray finished off the next game to give his team a 3 to 1 set advantage. Keith & Tracey got one more win before John and Ray closed out the set with a win in game 6, taking a 9 to 3 match lead. The 10 Ball Set got off to a rousing start for Tracey and Keith as Tracey made a long 6-10 combination to take the first game in the set. It wasn’t an easy shot either as she had to cut the 6 a lot to make the shot. Just like the previous set, John and Ray got on a roll notching the 2nd game The momentum continued to favor Ray and John as Ray nailed a 2-10 combo in game 3. They continued their winning ways taking game 4 as John again found an opening and closed out the game. It was Tracey again pumping in a combination, this time using the 8 ball. This again was not an easy cut, but she made it look easy dropping the 10 ball in for their second win. Keith & Tracey finished off the final game in the set to even up the match at 3 games each. Nice comeback by them. Good shooting by all four players.

Ray Ressler & John Killett (12) – Keith Nickel & Tracey Krol (6)

 

Table 4: Jacob Ressler & Scott Kroll vs Walter Wnuk & Linda Kujat: Linda & Walter started off the 8 Ball Set with back to back wins. Walter continues to shoot exceptionally well, with some very nice support by his partner Linda who continues to improve her game. They punished Jake and Scott on every miss they made. Scott and Jake were able to get on the score sheet in game 3, as both players took advantage on missed shots by their opponents. That would be all that Jake and Scott would get in the set, as Linda and Walter continued to shoot well posting wins in the final games. This gave them a 5-1 lead in the match. Walter and Linda continued to play well and notched the win in game one to start the 9 Ball Set. Just like that, Walter nailed the 9 ball on the break to give his team a 2 game to 0 lead. Scott seemed to come alive, and he an put together a nice run to close out game 3. That would be all that Jake and Scott would get as Linda and Walter stormed through the next 3 games. Great shots by Walter and Linda and  some very tough leaves was enough to keep Scott and Jake winless the rest of the set. Jake turned the momentum back to his team as he opened the 10 Ball Set with a quick game, nailing the 2 into the 10. He and Scott continued to keep the winning streak alive as they took advantage of some missed opportunities by their opponents to take games 2 and 3. They put together some nice runs and good safes to take a 3 game lead in the set. That changed in the 4th game as Linda stepped up and nailed a very nice 6-10 combo to finally put her and Walter on the score sheet. They never let up from that point on and kept the advantage on their side. They notched the rest of the games to even out the set at 3 games each. Good effort by Scott and Jake  as they had their fair share of problems keeping their opponents corralled in the match. Good shooting by all.
